The core purpose of Altvia is to be a source of energy, inspiration, abundance, and growth for our clients, partners, employees, and communities. The idea of energy, inspiration, abundance, and growth is even more apparent for me as we celebrate International Women’s Day every year on March 8 and recognize the entire month of March as Women’s History Month.
Simply put, the women in my life are my inspiration.
I have been beyond blessed with having inspiring, strong, caring, and resilient women throughout my life, and I am surrounded by such women every day inside of Altvia and in interacting with clients and partners and the communities in which we operate.
In recent days, many people have highlighted examples of women doing great things in professional environments which is certainly important to notice. However, when I think of celebrating women my first thought goes to my mom and the experiences that I had firsthand witnessing her strength and creativity, and resilience in our home. My mom raised 7 kids, including my 4 equally strong, creative, and resilient sisters. While my mom did not work full time outside the home when my siblings and I were growing up, she set an example that my sisters have all carried into their careers as leaders in their respective fields. Besides their accomplishments in their jobs, all 4 of my sisters have raised incredible families and have handled the ups and downs of personal lives with grace and determination. And my sisters in turn have inspired the next generation, as I look at my nieces that are having huge impacts as teachers and community health workers, marines, ultra marathoners and up and coming social leaders.
It comes as no surprise that I would be drawn to start my own family with my wife Kristen; she is the best person in the world. She is incredibly intelligent and hardworking and the rock of two families. The one that she grew up in and the one that she and I are building together. Kristen’s empathy, determination, and professionalism have set an incredible example for our two daughters and her influence on our son is indelible.
As I think about my community at Altvia and knowing the fullness and duality of the women in my personal life, I want to celebrate all of the incredible women here, who besides being trusted colleagues are also daughters and sisters and nieces and aunts and moms that are inspirations to their own families and communities. I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
