October 4-6, during the SOCAP Conference (Social Capitals Markets) Altvia and REDF (Roberts Enterprise Development Fund) took an opportunity to announce a joint effort to develop an integrated ‘Social Return on Investments’ (SROI) system. REDF was the pioneer in the school of though to not only invest in an enterprise but a social enterprise to help people with barriers sustain jobs and change lives. Together with Altvia, REDF will have the ability to show their return on social investments, integrate operating company financial, impact metrics, CRM and centralize key data in one system.
Altvia is a premier Salesforce.com partner which focuses exclusively on delivering software solutions for Alternative Investment Managers, Impact Investors, Non-profits, Foundations, and Endowments. Primary product offerings are focused on investment management, fundraising and metrics aggregation/reporting. So, we are well aligned with the technology required to do a great job building a SROI tool.
REDF is a San Francisco based venture philanthropy organization that invests in nonprofit-run businesses called ‘social enterprises’. REDF explains it best in there own words, “[After] observing the growing number of people living on the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area, George Roberts and his wife Leanne set out to do something to help those who had fallen on hard times.
Roberts reflected on methods that had worked well at the global leverage buyout firm he co-founded, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR). He proposed an alternative to Band-Aid solutions. “I could see how the power and proven practices of the business world could be applied to this problem to bring real solutions.” – link to REDF’s website here.
